MASTER OF THE GAME.

ree

Author: Sidney Sheldon. Country: United States. Language: English. Genre: Thriller novel. Publisher: Warner Books. Publication date: 1982 Media type Print: Paperback and Hardback.

Story Plot:

Kate Blackwell, the matriarch of the Blackwell family and head of her father’s multinational business empire, Kruger-Brent Ltd., celebrates her ninetieth birthday with her family and friends but is more focused on the ghosts of her past who are there. She recalls how the company started, and the story is told through flashback through different members of Kate’s family.

PROS:

Kate Blackwell’s empire was spawned by pure ambition and greed, and she oscillates in my mind as proud, self-obsessed woman all in shades of gray! Sidney Sheldon’s heroines have always been ruthless, powerful, ambitious and brainy. Kate’s nothing short of this combination. This deadly woman goes around shuffling the cards of her own family members to fuel her naked ambition. The story of passion, manipulation, hardships, and betrayal. There are logic holes and no apparent reason why the characters of the plot behave in an irrational way, but the pace of the story traveled kept me hooked.

CONS:

Well, I really didn’t see much of the difference between this and “Starts shine Down”. Yes, the story is more gripping with more twists but the topic is nearly same. Taking on the world even if u start from nothing. Some of the escape sequences in the novel are great.Especially Jamie’s escape. The way Tony was treated wasn’t great.I mean Kate did a really big mistake by doing such a thing to a talented artist. In the end, I thought the plot of Eve and Alexandra was a bit overdrawn. Lastly, I would say that Kate ends up with nothing. Half of her family despise her for what she has done to save the company. She really doesn’t care for anyone except the Company. Her character has been portrayed superbly.
